Starting a website may seem overwhelming at times and even outright impossible. Many start out confused and give up before they even start. This blog is to help with the process. We are going to create a simple list that will help you or your developer develop your website fast.
Now let's get started:
Website Purpose
First and foremost you need a purpose for your website. Do you want your website to fill out registration, online purchasing, calculations, customer accounts, ETC. All the important functions you want included in your site, must be sent to your developer. For additional assistance you may even want to include how you would like the function completed. If you don't know how, include a sample output for what you want your website to do.
If you want a purely informational website then you're in luck! The process of developing, designing, and creating web content will be fast and easy.
Color Scheme
Do you have a plan on how you would like your website to look? if you do, draw out a template for the developer. If not provide the developer with colors you would like included on your website. If you can't make up your mind on what colors you would like on your website, include colors you definitely do not want on your website. The more drawings in colors you include the more information you give to your developers.
Logo
The logo is very important for your site. It is almost as important as your company name. Send over all necessary files for your logo and including banners and the logos that you would like included in your menu.
Quotes
Include one line quotes in your list. These quotes will most likely be placed next to graphic elements or forms. You may even want to include the tagline to go at the top of your website next to your logo.
Images
What is the website without graphic elements? Include videos and images you will like included on your website. There are plenty of free resources for images such as pixabay.com, unsplash.com, and flickr.com. Be aware that some photos may require photographer attribution. This means that if a client takes on their image it will take them to the photographer's website.
Content
The content for your website is very important. Do not rely on your developers for the content. No one knows your business like you do, and no one should convey that message to your clients except you. The content needed differs depending on the type of website you need. In general all websites require the following information:
- about page
- Services page
- contact page
- home page
You can even include a Blog, testimonials, and frequently asked questions. Remember the more information the better. If your developer has the answers to all their questions the development process will go smoother and faster.
